Spraying the fret deck

I'm up to finishing. I have stained and vinyl sealed the neck and masked of the fret deck. Does the deck have to be sealed and sprayed with flat clear, spraying over the frets as well?

no
the top of the fretboard should be masked off.. The finish goes on the sides but that is the separation point
