easy toner under nitro

I need to add a touch of color to a too-white Adi top. This time around I'm doing rattle-can nitro, I've always done oil or varnish finishes, so shellac was the solution there. I've read enough to know there are lots of nitro-over-shellac finishers out there, and also good reasons to avoid it.

So is there a toner product available ready to spray? (ie rattle can, not transtint, etc)

spruce is very difficult to stain. You should look at a toner , that is a color additive in the lacquer. More even in color and will work easy .

It's like John said, Spruce can be tough to stain and get it to look good. Stew mac has a vintage amber lacquer in a can and Behlin's has one as well, use one of those to get some color kind of like you did with the shellac under varnish.

thanks Gents. I wasn't thinking of staining, in fact there is already a coat of sanding sealer on so I think that's out anyway. I'll look at the vintage amber, was hoping there was something similar available locally.
