I use my hands
I like the feel of it and the connection I get to the wood

I have for the top and back. I really like the even finish I get. I start with 800 grit. I have gone past with the ros using disks I bought from the micro mesh people.

I do it by hand, a lot of the guitar can't be sanded with a ros anyway so why bother getting it out.

No I mean I have used higher grit numbered Micro mesh. Now that I level with a ROS I have not had a sand through while wet sanding the finish coat.

So far I've done all mine by hand. But as I get older it wears my fingers out more. So for me it's a matter of longevity.

John, are you cutting your own dics? Also, what grit are you going to? I have 800, 1000 and 1200.

No I bought a good sized bag of 800 from somewhere I forget. I use the 800 until I remove the shinny areas. It does not take long, as I level sand before the last few finish coats. From there mostly I have hand sanded with micro mesh, The last two instruments I switched to micro mesh disks and went through a whole sequence up to what they call 9000. It was a trial pack. I think it was overkill as the buffer would have taken out a lot of the fine scratches from the lower grits. I am not taking much off with the micro mesh.
