I have a dovetail neck and wonder how you guys support the body while finishing.
  • Buy the StewMac holder? (can't see it would work well with the dovetail)
Hang it from a hook? (difficult to control the body while spraying)
Just lay it down and do one side at a time?
I see a lot of people glue the neck on before spraying to help hold but that's contrary to many other views.

Here's what I use as a handle the body when I for finishing. I have been doing wipe on poly or brush on water based.

I can hang it from a pipe in my basement or clamp the square shaft to a table or work bench.
I do bolt on necks so I have holes to pass a bolt thru. It could be screwed to the neck block inside dovetail notch.
The same handle will hold a neck by the bolt. Then the nut goes on the inside.

I have metal brackets that I made that get attached with a small screw or two. In the booth I have a post with a hole drilled in it, I insert the bracket and can position any side I want up or towards me.
