John and guys,
Do you like to use a colored pore filler when filling the mahogany neck, and if so do you try and match the hog, or do you go darker, and what shade. I've always done clear, but I'm thinking to try something different.
Thanks.

It depends on your plans. If you are staining the neck you do that first , seal the stain the filler to match, if you are doing natural just filler up.

Hey John, no stain, just filler. I have a coat of vinyl sealer on there now. I am reading that I will okay to use the Timbermate filler on top of the sealer, then sand it back flat, reapply as necessary, and re-seal before spraying the topcoats.

Kevin: If not staining the wood I like to use a very dark filler on Mahogany, I just love the look of the dark pores against the lighter Mahogany color. Try a few scraps to see if you like the contrast.

I used the rosewood Timbermate on the african hog neck....I LIKE IT!
I'll have some pictures of this guitar finished in about 4 weeks.
