Has anyone used the Timbermate Wood filler from StewMac to do your pore filling?

I was recently made aware of Timbermate by a local luthier (www.houseguitars.com) who has been using it for a while. So, I ordered some from our local hardware store to give it a try on my next project.

keep us posted on this . I am a pore o paq guy but it is good to know there are other products that may work

I have been doing a lot of research on it. I saw their video for it out on you tube. It is also posted on their website as well. Seems easy enough.

Anyone ever try the Quick Drying Wood Grain Filler by Hood Finishing Products that Ken was was so impressed with? I think Kevin was going to give it a try and maybe some others.

I always had a problem with the fast curing fillers. It may take a different application technique. There was one called Famowood . This stuff dried faster than you could put it on and made a mess that to this day I swear it is still stuck on the bench.
I like having some working time to get it into the pores. Filling is the one key to the final finish that has to be done well for a good finish. I will be addressing the topic at the Open House in June. We have 3 pro finishers and one very good amateur finish guy.
We will cover Nitro Urethane French Polish and water Borne finsih.

I have tried the Timbermate on a test panel of walnut, and sprayed it with Deft nitro.
I fills nicely, and is very easy to sand. I colored what I had at the time, which is a light color, like ash or something with brown leather dye. This was an experiment. It mixed in fine, and did not seem to affect the timbermates drying or anything. The test panel has been sitting now for over 6 months and I don't see any issues. I like the stuff. I now have 4 different colors, and will use it on one of the two guitars I'm building.
I also have the Hood lacquer grain filler, but I have not used it yet. The usage is pretty straight forward, and I'm pretty sure I will use it on the walnut OM I'm building, and maybe try the Timbermate on the Santos Mahogany dred.

I won't be porefilling for a couple of months, but I will keep you all informed on both products.
