Beginning the finish on 000c

A pic of the back after 5 coats of tru-oil. Black Walnut. Like I said, I'm trying many new things on this guitar, and even though the pores are huge, I decided not to pore fill in my regular manner, i.e., creating a slurry and sanding it in, which works wonderfully. Instead, since the oil has no adherence issues, I sanded to 2,000 and began applying the TO with short fingernails!! and cotton balls. After 5 thin coats even the large pores are starting to fill in nicely.
The other pic is my wife, who IMHO does not need any sanding at all :-)
The camera angle on the guitar is a little funny, my bad.

Good thing you did not try to TO your wife and kiss the guitar!

I actually have part of a tutorial on my tru-oil method using the slurry pore fill. I used it on the red oak and it turned out very nice. When I get time I will post the method.
I have kissed my guitar, but no TO on the wife :-)

After 8 coats, about 1/3 way there, then will cure for a few days and then rub out to degree of gloss I like.
4 coats a day, usually, let each coat dry 2 hours or so, then a light scuff with 4/0 steel wool, then apply a very light coat of TO with a cotton ball, then wipe off any residue with a paper towel. Repeat.
