Any tips for a perfect Tru Oil finish?

I'd love to have John's set up and experience, but that's just not the case. Still trying different techniques for my first build. What are the steps? How much will I need? How many coats? And thanks again.

Here's a link that should keep you busy for a while on that subject.

The two things I'd suggest are:
1. Apply THIN coats;
2. Allow plenty of drying time between each coat.

A little late for you, probably, but for others;
The best instruction on Tru-Oil application that I've found is Dave Bagwell's You-Tube video:

Good video, thanks for posting! One thing I do is slightly thin TruOil when getting closer to the final layers. Wiping as Dave does in the video is very necessary to achieve the best finish. And fresh oil dries quickly -- I can get two coats/day.
