John,

Thanks for the process post - more for me to think about. It was your post, the pictures really , that pushed me to decide in favor of FP over this past weekend. I did some practice FP on a mahogany back piece I have using hardware store shellac. I like the feel of the process and watching the finish build up.

That is why I like to FP as well. It is fun to get so close to the process and get to control it. I spray lacquer as well; everything goes so fast, but yet it takes a whole month. I can FP a guitar in a weekend.

If you use regular shellac you can refinish the guitar any time you want. As you can FP over an old finish. I am less sure about the ubeaut.
