Thanks, John.

This a great video. Too many videos do not show how long and how patient one must be This one does a nice job of staying with it from start to finish. I have a neck that I want to reset and have been a bit afraid. I still probably have a couple of years but maybe I will give it a try.

Another nice video John. For anyone that may be interested, I have a StewMac steam needle and use a #46 bit to drill the steam injection holes.

I have the same needle and use a 1/16 bit , In my old days I used a air inflation needle.

I have seen the steam rigs made from cappuccino machines, It really doesn't matter , steam is steam. Be safe as a steam burn hurts.

Thanks, John. Very informative. Is this process only for AR and hide glue though?

You mentioned that this guitar was getting re-topped. I'm assuming it's the same one that you put an Adi top with 1937 bracing on? Do you have a video for the re-topping too?

The reason I'm asking is that I want to retop my old lawsuit Tak. Problem is that the neck joint is epoxied together now.

Epoxy won't steam out. In fact you will have a most difficult time.

If I have to cut a neck out I will take off the fretboard , then sometimes you can drill out the neck and make a new neck.
I have removed 1 epoxied neck and I won't do another.

IIRC Freeman recently sawed off the neck on his of his old Yamaha which was epoxied on. He cut through the neck joint and bolted it back on. I'm thinking that that will be the route I take with my old Takamine, which I plan on retopping.

That actually works very well. Use a flush cut Japanese saw to get through the neck.
