Actually, I have the box back together and binding back on. I've made the pickguard, but won't install it until very last. I've roughed in the bridge.

I'm getting ready to set the neck. I'm getting there, slowly. I've attempted to hide as much of the footprint of the ridiculous bridge, which was 8.5" long, and 1.5" wide, as much as possible. I can't hide the footprint, but I've minimized it somewhat. Plus it was way off center.

The Banner has a bridge and neck now. If you remember, someone had cut the fb extension through at the 14th fret. I glued back on so I could get the neck geometry right, but the only thing to glue it to was the dovetail. It hung in there throughout the reset process until the very last minute. But, that's okay, because I was able to get the geometry right. I got the fretboard extension lined up and glued back on with the neck.

The bridge is oversized by necessity to cover the damage. I made it as small as I could. It extends 1/8" beyond the spruce patch, above and below. I know it looks blocky. It's not nearly as big as the bridge I removed.

I'll have to adjust the pickguard to compensate.

This is probably over kill for you John:

The Banner measurements are:

Neck: 3.49"
Mid upper bout: 3.57"
Waist: 3.92"
Mid lower bout: 4.25"
Tail: 4.42"

I don't know if you want this, but the heel is 1.76" wide and it's 0.66" tall.

Thanks Diane,
This is an inspiration and an idea for my soundboards on top of others bodies (from MIRC stocks).

thanks again for posting this. I'm going to try the aluminum bars on a '58 LG-0 that has some crumpling going on at the sound hole. And a decent belly too.

The aluminum plates were magical! They corrected that top in no time flat. I just got an email from the Gibson owner a couple of days ago. He just loves playing this old Banner. He plays it daily.
