I think I got it!!
This guitar is very rough!
I took all the hardware off.
Then I started with the back! You can see that It was already loose, could have been some water damage?
Wow !!! Look at the gorilla glue
The first time I saw the inside my heart sank!
The braces had all been taken off and it was moved forward, not sure if the original braces were used?
the top has been sanded down and not sure I CAN save it! I am going to try...love the patina!
Well that's the beginning....I will try and show my struggle with this first time guitar repair !!

One of those braces looks older than the others. Could be a nice guitar - keep us informed.

here are some photo's of the top once I took the back off!
someone had moved all the braces forward and thinned the top!
repairs with gorilla glue......what were they thinking
enlarged the sound hole ala Tony Rice???

they might of used some of the old braces ....I just don't know??
they were hard to get off but the previous owner had dug into the top to get things moved the first time!
I was very careful because the top is so fragile!
I am determined to salvage this top!!!
more photo's tomorrow of the back!!

Besides the esthetic of originality, providence and bragging rights, just what is it your trying to save in this top besides some patina? Hmmm. Especially if the sound hole was butchered.

Like you need the therapy of cleaning off them braces? For what?

Lots of good spruce available, You could have a new top and braces on that box faster than cleaning off and fixing someone elses nightmare.

Well that s my 2 cents worth.

Other than that ...good luck with her.
