Beginner beginning to begin

Hello all!

A little about myself... I am 35 and just started taking lessons earlier this year. Have two young boys with a little girl on the way in the next month. Down the line I would love to make them each their own guitar.

I really enjoy woodworking and am looking forward to starting my first build.

I am going to go with a blues creek kit. I am leaning towards a 00 size, 12 fret, with a cutaway assuming that is not too ambitious...

Thank you. I have been a member for a few months, learning through everyone’s posts. Figured it was time to start the process of my first build.

Good luck with your first build, Jake. You're in good hands here. I hope you get as much enjoyment in building as many of us have. John Hall provides superb support for the kits BCG sells which makes the process much easier.

I'm not thrilled by cutaways..... I built a cutaway as my third guitar. I have no desire to build another one.

I assume the sides will be pre-bent, however, which removes a lot of the potential grief. A cutaway will still add a bunch of complexities to the build process, but I don't think any of it would prove to be insurmountable if you are sufficiently determined. John gives great support, so you'll probably be okay.
