Well I've been putting off giving this a try for 5 years or so but I've finally taken the plunge. I think John's series of dovetail videos convinced me that I could do this. Thanks John.

I've been a player all my life and have been playing mostly acoustic the last 10 years or so. So I think building a kit is a natural progression for me.
I'm a few weeks into a 000 Stewmac kit and I've really really enjoyed it so far. No major complications, yet. Thanks to all the great luthiers for sharing their knowledge here on the interweb. I'm already thinking about #2 ;o)

I can tell you its an addictive hobby. I started with a Martin kit, then built one from scratch, built a second from scratch (just waiting for the lacquer to cure so I can finish it) and already have 3 more in the works in my shop. I also have ideas for several more projects, including the model that you are building! Looks great so far by the way!

Your work on the kit looks really good. Looks like it could be your 10th guitar. I usually wait unit I rout the bindings before I open up the mortise. No big deal but you need to be very careful routing near the mortise as you will be using a tool the indexes off of the rim, you do not want the router bit to drop in.

Thank you all for the welcome and kind words. It sure has been a fun and addictive venture. And thanks for the heads up on routing around the mortise. That never crossed my mind. I will make a note of that for #2.
