15 year guitar

Hi- My name is Chad. I bought a Martin kit when I was in college to work on with my grandfather. About 1/4 of the way through the project we were stumped (I'm blaming the kit "instructions") and I didn't have the time or resources to finish. 15 years later I bought Bill Cory's kit guitar book and am ready to dive back in.

I just received my Stew-Mac dreadnought kit and it's currently acclimating to my workshop. My hope is to complete this kit and gain some skills that will help me finish the Martin started years prior.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help.

Chad

HI Chad, sorry I'm late to welcome you.
Did you get your kit? Have you started yet?

Thanks Kevin- I'm actually moving along pretty nicely. I just finished a mother-of-pearl inlay on the peg head today and am starting to worry about finishing. I logged on today to post about that. I'm looking for the "idiot's guide to finishing" essentially. I just want to keep it as simple as possible. I just know that it's going to be frustrating.

I already made a mistake on a dent in the spruce top that I should have repaired differently (I got Dan Erlewine's finishing book last week).

I'd really like someone to just tell me "do this, in this order."
