I lived there while in my late 20s and 30s. Had a waterbed shop in Sebastopol and played bass in folk rock situations, one was with a guy who managed Morning Star. Hung out at "Uncle Sams". Sold bins of Gravenstein apples to Martinellis off my property there. Hippie Heaven for a while.
Sounds like you have a handle on that guitar. Hope the top stays down If you get it to move.
I've built a couple of guitars from Black Walnut with Sitka tops, J200 shapes. Fairly easy to work. Sounds great. You might be able to find some good local redwood for a top, maybe sinker. Have fun on your projects.

That's for sure, Taj Mahal, Mose Allison, Frontier, Fee Waylin and others! We played there too. My shop sponsored their baseball team.
