Hey all,

The builds at somewhat of a hold for now. I'll be spraying finish for it in about 7 weeks until then I'll be taking my time on carving the neck since it's no hurry, so it will be at this stage for a little while yet.

This guitar is also the first attempt on a headstock inlay I've ever done. I spent about a solid 4-5 hours of cutting out the DB from a piece of Koa and filing it with needle files until it looked good. Luckily, with out breaking it into more than one piece, haha. It turned out pretty well, so I picked up a half lb of green abalone and a half lb of gold MOP to continue practicing on.

Here's a few pictures:

Very nice details too.

BUT- my name being Dave Bagwill, our initials are the same and I was planning on the same headstock treatment. However, I am a reasonable man and will sell you the rights to those initials for a reasonable fee. :-)

Kidding of course. That is a good looking instrument.

Looks really good Dan. I've been resisting the urge to try a small, simple inlay on my head stock, but with all you guys doing such beautiful work, I think I am going to go for it!

Use an ebony headcap and you can hide just about any mistake.

Dan,
This guitar is really turning great. I like the idea of a contrasting wood headstock inlay.
You did a marvelous job on it.

Looks great and the inlay came out really nice! Are you going to make the same logo with pearl?

I've got 2 unfinished guitars that have no headstock inlays that I'm going toy with making the same logo with pearl. I've got a bunch of pieces of paper printed out with that tracing I used for when I want to do it again. The pearl and abalone I got is really just for practicing all sorts of inlays.
