with the influx of new employees and the fact the necks are hand sanded there is always the chance of a neck that isn't perfect to the patterns
I will check with my other contacts to see if they are doing this

When I toured the plant just before the COVID lockdown they were carving necks on a 5-axis Onsrud CNC. Do they still do additional handwork/sanding after the neck comes out of the CNC?

This was 5/31/2019. They were doing more than sanding them in the neck shop. I highly recommend the factory tour. I was blown away the skill and experience it takes to build their guitars. Sure, there's machines in the factory but you can't leave that tour without agreeing that Martins are "hand made." I'd give a lot to be let loose in there for a few weeks!

Acoustic Letter posted a video yesterday reviewing a new 000-42 with the asymmetrical neck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV_KcnRHBbY

I can see why. They're more comfortable to play.
