Bending meranti

I know meranti is not so popular as tonewood but I was given a big quartersawn board and wanted to give it a try.
First attempts to bend a test side failed, the same temperature and time approach as to mahogany or rosewood don't seem to work well. Anyone tried it, what could help? Thanks!

A technique I have used is weight
apply a weight and let the heat do its thing. Be sure to keep the wood damp . I use wet paper on both sides of the wood.
Get the wood hot , usually around 250 F you see it start some woods need as much as 300F
