Hey all -

I bought a stationary sander off craigslist a couple days ago. The guy that sold it to me gave me this hunk of mahogany. I'm wondering if any part of it might be used for guitar making. I'm just learning to read grain and such, so maybe you can help. I have a few photos below but can take more.

It measures 4 feet long and is 4"x6".

Is it work sawing into 24" x 3" x 1" blanks or something?

depending on the guitar you may be able to get something out of it.
about 30 inches for a side ( 32 is better to let you trim and 4 to 5 in wide for the side. then for the back you may be able to make a 3 pc back
6 in wide and 21 in long
a 000 is 4 1/8 in wide on the sides and 15 wide for the back

a small parlor guitar guitar would be the same about 27 in long and 13 in wide

That sounds pretty awesome.

This has been in his garage a number of years. Is the next step to cut it to size, sticker it and let it sit for an extended period of time? If so, how long would you recommend?
