Truss rod - to glue or not to glue

I'm currently amid the building of a StewMac 000, and I'm just at the point of gluing on the fretboard. I'm not sure what to do with the truss rod, though.
Does the truss rod need to be glued, itself, into the channel? Or, is it secure enough simply with the pressure of the fretboard that is glued on to the neck?
