Removing binding/purfling

Hi, everyone. I'm amid my first build of a 000 and have a question regarding binding/purfling removal. I've completed the body, but have not yet applied any finish. I made a mistake with the binding/purfling and would like to remove it and use a different purfling. I used Weld-On from StewMac for the glue.
Here's my question: can I apply heat with a heat gun to soften the glue and pull away the binding/purfling? Any other suggestions? Thanks very much, in advance, for helpful advice or tips.

Welcome. Glad you found your way to the KGF and hope it won't be another 4 months until your next post. :D
We all like seeing photos of each other's projects so please take some pics and post them up for all to admire!

That may work but try this first , acetone will devolve the weldwood and I am afraid heat may allow you to pull grain slivers up with it. Be patient. you can also just rerout it
that is what I do .
good luck and take pics to share. We can all learn from each other
thanks

Thanks for the helpful replies.
John, you mentioned re-routing the channels. I've considered doing that, as the purfling I'm going to install would require a slightly deeper channel, anyway.
Does the old binding gum up the router blade at all as you're cutting it away (e.g., does it melt with the heat of the routing blades)?

it won't gum up the bit.
take your time. Score the edge with a razor blade so if it tears off you will create a week spot for it to separate.
