Glue for the X brace reinforcing patch?

Post by dave66 »

Hi, I'm a newbie, making my first Blues Creek '37 D28 kit. Can anyone tell me the best glue for the X brace half-lap reinforcing patch? And how do you clamp it without glue going everywhere?

Thank you

no clamping needed.
I use HHG or fish glue , so any glue that you used on the top will do fine. I like to use a cotton patch about 1 in diameter.
work the glue into the patch and then just mold it on the braces. This will tie the joint together.

HHG is Hot Hide Glue and doesn't get mixed with Fish glue. In your case titebond original or elmers white will do the trick
