Resawn Ziricote

Hey all,

I came across a large billet of Ziricote a couple weeks ago that I could not pass on. With that said, I got around to resawing it, and it turned out fantastic. I wanted to share a picture of one of the sets I'm going to build with, and if anyone is interested in a set, I may part with a few of them.

Out of the billet, I was only able to get two backs only big enough for an OM or smaller. Unfortunately with alot of the expensive exotics, you don't always have the luxury of getting the perfect two piece backs for width. Luckily for me, I prefer three piece backs ;)

Here's the set I plan to build with next:

That is pretty sweet Dan.
I had a opportunity to buy a billet of some super nice Zircote a year ago at a local exotic wood store, but at the time I had not done any resawing yet, and, I was afraid of spending the cash and then screwing it up. Now I wish I had it. I'd of gotten two sets out of it for less than $300.
Oh well.
Glad you have it. How may sets did you get?

Kevin

I have 6 sets. I spent far too much money on way too much Ziricote, lol!

Ziricote is one of my favorites in appearance, but I don't really need 6 sets of it. I'm just building a collection of wood so I have options later, plus wood is as good as gold as far as investments go. I'm open to letting some go, but it sure it fun to have a closet full of options. ;)

I like the looks of it too! Would you say it sounds like rosewood, or something else?
