Like Darren, I did my rosette this weekend.
My challenge was that my kit came with the rosette rings pre-cut to the Martin standard (radius and depth). And Martin would not ship shell to Canada.
So.... I figgur'd I'd see what I could do with the method from the "Guitarmaking" book.
I have: Drill Press, Scroll Saw, Sanding disc.
Here's a little photo-blog of how it went. For most of it, the Abalam is covered in masking tape. Don't forget to be safe.... Shopvac and dust mask...

I had a double coat of shellac in my grooves and used CA.
