Question about clearing neck mortise

Working on my second build - a Blues Creek D35

Am ready to glue on the soundboard, but need to clear the neck mortise prior to gluing. It's a bolt-on neck.

Was wondering what methods work best for you folks for removing rim material to clear the mortise?

Thanks,

George

I use my inlay tool but you can also use a flush bit in a router a dremel and a sharp chisel .

I don't clean up the mortise till after the top and binding are done. Then a Zona saw to get an opening and a flush cut router bit.

Thanks Tom,

Also heard offline from Ken Cierpilowski who advocates the same thing.

Now that I recall the first build (eight years in the past!), there was an issue there.

Many don't open the joint till you are done the finish as it allows using a power buffer without grabbing the edge.
