I'm thinking about using some Abalone in my current build and I have a few questions.
After everything is in and sanded level for finish what happens to the shell. I would typically sand to 180 or 220 for the first coats.
I didn't test it but I'm thinking that will scuff up the shell pretty good, will the finish coats bring it back to life.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I never worked with shell before.

yes the finish fills the scratches
On ebony I sand up to 400 and steel wool. On body pearl I just act like I am sanding the wood. No need to worry
