I'm wondering the neck thickness I should have at the 1st and 10th fret (just before the neck meets the heel). Not counting the frets, but the neck and fretboard. I took a crude measurement just now of .83 just behind the first fret, and .89 around the 10th.
It's a Martin Dreadnought kit. I'm not sure of the exact number.
I'd compare it to the first guitar I built, but I didn't know that I needed to shape that neck, and ended up with a bat.
Thanks,
Bob

They vary. What neck profile? Vee, Modified, low profile?
Making it to fit your hand is what's most important .

John, it feels like what I would think is a low profile. And since it's a good bit smaller than my first one, I'm thinking I'll like it. It's just about the same thickness as my Fender Squier Affinity neck. I don't know the year on the Squier either.

I like mine at 21 mm (.83) and 24 mm (.94) at the locations you specified.

Ben-Had, thanks. Seems like I'm pretty close. And it feels good to me as well.
