1937 Hauser Kit Build
I have been using this forum for years and the amount of information that I have received is really unbelievable. I few years ago after playing classical for 4 years I decided to build a guitar. I personally play a Frederick Holtier double top in cedar. I knew it would be difficult to build, but enjoyed reading how and then trying. At this point I have built 2. Both were serviced kits from LMI. First one looked great but sounded horrible. Second one was much better but really overbuilt. So I decided to once again try to build another and thought it would be fun to post pictures. I was hoping that this would be a long-standing thread about my trials and tribulations along the way. For most that read this forum and are great builders will most likely find some humor and maybe even thoughts about when they first got started. Any tips, observations would be great. I decided to build another from a LMI serviced kit and will use their premade neck. The kit is on the FEDEX truck today so I will receive the wood today. This might even be a good reference someday to someone just getting started.
Top is AAA Engleman Spruce
Back and sides will be Cocobolo which will be joined and sides will be prebent.

Re: 1937 Hauser Kit Build
I started on it a week ago. So far I have the premade neck pretty much finished. The crest is done and the shelf to recieve the sound board. I have the sides cut to lenght so they fit good into the mold. The heel block is done. I also have thichness the top and back. The back is at 2.5mm. I Wanted to leave some room for final sanding. The top came at 3mm, but when I tapped on it where the bridge would go the sound had no sustain. So its thichnessed to about 2.7mm. Hauser built the original at 3mm. But he most likely had an outstanding piece for spruce. The last one I built was overbuilt and I dont want to make the same mistake.

Re: 1937 Hauser Kit Build
My second kit was an LMI classical. I couldn't totally get away from building with a mold so I used kind of a solera/mold combination. Posted a couple of threads back on the original kit forum

Thanks Kevin. I really don't build "kits" anymore but I'm still building. Did a couple of Weissenborns, a Lester and I'm working up steam to make an all mahogany L-00 style guitar. Between all the other forums I don't really think of this one very much - kind of wandered by out of habit and saw the Hauser thread.Kevin Sjostrand wrote:Hey Freeman, good to see you back around!
