made a pyramid bridge

Post by darren »

Made a Mad Rose pyramid bridge tonight. Only sanded up to 180 so far; I'm happy with how it's looking.

If I could drill 6 holes in a straight line I'd be even happier.

What are you all using for counter sink bits? I've got a pretty crappy set of counter sinks which work ok in something harder like ebony/maccassar, but they really wander around in the softer rosewood bridges. I'm using a hand drill; no drill press in my basement shop yet.

I wonder if this is a good option...

I don't really want to drop $30 on stewmacs version.

I have the 10$ assortment and am not happy with the way they cut. they only have a single flute and tend to jump around and/or follow the softer grain in the rosewoods.

Maybe it's just user error?

that isn't what you want. Here is a good alternative

if you can't use a drill press or need a STOP here is also a good hand countersink

Nice work Darren. Looks real good.
I use a small countersink in my drill press, made for a drill motor. It works good in rosewood or ebony.
Sure can't remember where I got it though. Maybe LMI?
