Any tips on how I can re create this simple design.

I think it is three herringbone purflings in a line. How would I bend the purfling ?

I use hot water and soak them. I take the through my sander and take off the outer single strip , this makes them more flexible , then the hot water, You may ruin the first one till you get the feel but they actually will bend pretty well.
