Couple of new Rosettes

Post by glasalle1 »

Hi Guys,

Been working on a few guitars (technically number 3 and 4, although I still have to string up Numbers 1 and 2). One is for my Son, and one for my friends Son.

The First rosette is going on an African Mahogany OM with Lutz top and Zebrawood bindings/appointments. Rosette is zebra wood done in a radial style, with b/w/b/green purfling:

The 2nd rosette is going on a Mad RW Back and sides, Bearclaw spruce top with curly Koa bindings and maple trim. Rosette is spalted maple with Loa/maple/Koa purfling. This guitar will have Koa/Maple rope purling around the top as well (still need some more sanding):

I'll post pictures of the back and sides etc soon.

here is another take on the radial rosette. These things are fun to make and a detail for a guitar that can really make them stand out.

What wood combo did you use in that radial purfling John? Maybe mahogany and EIR?

I need to try one with Cocobolo as I have some nice, stripey pieces. The stripey zebra wood above also looks nice.
