Hi

Is there a definitive build sequence ?

I know there is a quite a bit of conjecture about on number of topics such as

Sides trimmed before or after bending
Gluing top or back first
Final finishing with and without the neck in place
Fretting off and on the neck etc

Yes there is a sequence
I profile the sides before bending but do the actual true up in the mold
I do the back first , this allows me to clean up any glue squeeze out. As you see that through the sound hole
NOTE when gluing back first be careful not to rack the body
Frets can be done on or off the neck but for best results , you can do it on the body

Finish with the neck off allows neck resets to be done easier and finish work is better.

Techniques are just that and people seem to find the comfort zone that works for them

Note: I edited this to correct myself

John, have a look to your left in the list of Forum supporters at Bill Cory's Complete Guide to Building Kit Acoustic Guitars.
As definitive as it gets.

Did you mean Finish with the neck off? If not I do not understand how finishing when the neck is on makes resets easier.

I think he meant off. Martin finishes with neck off, Gibson with it on (to the best of my knowledge).
