It appears that it was used as a glue for artists and the use of gesso. I think I would do more testing before I would use it on a guitar. If you can make a test joint and see what the stress points are it may be ok. Fish , hide and tite bond are all proven glues

Rabbit Glue is the hide glue that is sold by David Dyke Luthier Supplies in the UK, I would send you the link to the page but the site seems to be down. It may be a misrepresentation of Hide Glue. I'll send them and email for clarification

Hi, I can support that question hopefulluy clearly as intended. Being a painter as well as a hobbyist of wood instruments, we use this product as a 'size' or application applied to our canvases or material surface to 'support the intergrity of the fabric' for long term support
as well as a "barrier " between soluble solvent and paint oils/thinnners and other agents that may cause deteriorations of the fabric or canvas that the painting is done upon. Sort of a shield for 'long life restoration.' The product is applied warm/hot to the backside of the material in use...... Hope this helps some.
Hide glue is an adhesive similiar in looks and application, but totally for adhesiion purposes and not applicable to the rabbit/deerskin applications. :)
