I don't see why not. If the shellac is cut with alcohol, which can be used with that dye, they should be compatible. At least that's how I see it.
If I find some light colored scrap I'll give it a try and let you know what happens.

Alcohol based dyes are used for tinting shellac.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought but I wanted to be sure it wouldn't gunk up for some reason.
