When David did his web cast he had a few questions about how to inlay the pearl at the extension. He sent me these photos. As you can see he has the black side binding turned sideways , this is how David does do it , that way you can have a little fudge room when the neck goes on.
The procedure starts after you have the neck set. David places a layer of masking tape on the edge of the fretboard. Then he sets the neck on to the top. The masking tape allows a little wiggle room of about .010. Under the fretboard he will have some masking tape also to mark the placement of the purfling on.
Once the neck is in position you can take the purfling bundle In this case B/W/B Poly B/W/B . This is used to make the outer line , the black binding is laid to the inside as you can see here in the picture. You can now mark the precise location of the outer edge. All you have to do know is inlay the bundle into the top. Miter the corners.

Thanks for posting those John and a big thanks to David for making these available!
Per David, the black purfling provides a little a little fudge room so that down the road if the neck is reset, it will still look nice and you don't have to worry about white spruce shining between the inlay and the fretboard. This looks great!
