I am shooting a new video in a few weeks and looking for input . What topics would interest you. Remember that what I do is my way and there are other ways to do things . I will just show how I do it.

I would like to know if you split it alone the grain first and if so how because when I do it with my axe it does not split cleanly

I buy my brace stock already split. A tool that you want to use is a froe. That is what I use to split. A hatchet is also a good splitting to, I think you can control them better. Spliting across the grain to get the thickness then with the grain.
That technique will help with run out better.

Yeah, showing going from a split wedge to final brace stock dimensions. Then radius and lap joint.

I buy my brace stock pre-split from LMI or one of the vendors here.
I'm more interested in how to see how other convert a brace stock billet into braces. I seem to be terribly inefficient at it.
I'm also interested in hearing the differences in attributes for the various types of brace wood (Adirondack, Sitka, etc...)
