I may want to add some purfling but I have already routed for the binding. Is it doable without major drawbacks?

Sure! That is how some folks do it all the time. I'm assuming you mean top or back - if it is on the sides, below the binding, I'm not sure having not done it.

I always do it that way, binding first then purflings. The very deep cut to do the purflings first scared me.

That's the sequence I use -- I cut the purf channel just a "hair" narrow so the binding is sure to squeeze the purf along the soundboard. What kindof tool are you using to make the channels?

This is my first attempt at routing for purfling and I'm a little nervous.
Ken, I'm using a Bosch colt trimmer with the KMG adapter and Stewmac Router.My technique is getting better but not flawless. doing it second seems correct. Thanks again.

You'll be fine -- I was concerned about just having the bearing only as a vertical contact surface, which makes it a bit tricky when the 1/4" of binding channel material is gone.

Stewmac provide a little brass collar which you fit between the router bit and the bearing so the bearing clears the binding channel and gives more contact with the side. 0.02€
