David Bagwill is going to build 3 instruments for the childrens project. I will allow him to tell you more. I am supporting his effort by donating 3 necks , blocks , truss rods and tuner. I also will kick in the fretboards and fretwire. I am a sucker when it comes to helping in these ventures.
I hope that others will also help . I commend David's efforts and will hope he posts pictures to help us feel involved. David will need more supplies and I hope that the members here will help kick in.
Again thanks , this is a worthwhile effort.

Please see the 'anything else' part of the Forum for what is going on. It is not necessary, but I think some labels as I describe - giving credit to the Forum, since this is a joint effort - and maybe an inlay.
These instruments will be USED, so 'bling' is not the important thing.

The Forumites have been very generous and gracious, too. It's a team thing.
And you're right, I think - we each have our small place in the scheme of things.

Thought I'd give a brief status report. These are the current 'pledges' (now I sound like an NPR fund-raiser :-))

John Hall - 3 mortise and tenon necks, fretboards, fret wire, tuners

Ken Cierp - tops, backs and sides, bridges, rosettes, brace material

Herman - is sending two european spruce tops

Bob Cef (RC Tonewoods) - a set of back and sides

Tony - is checking out the possibility of getting some simple inlay donated

Still needed:

Kerfing
Binding material - black fiber would work best I think
3 sets of strings - lights - 12-52 or something lighter?
Headplates - coordinate with John's fretboards
End wedge - "" "" "" "" ""

I will coordinate the 'theme' to make the instruments look planned out, not thrown together.

Also - I do NOT want to put a "KGF" logo on as if I represent the Forum UNLESS it is ok with the Forum. Let me know what you think.

More to follow
Dave

Update:

Update: Tim is providing strings. Thanks Tim!
David L is providing matching headstock blanks and endgrafts. Thanks David!

Still needed: reverse rounded kerfing and black fiber binding.

Thanks in advance!

Note: KMG and Blues Creek are bearing a lot of the burden here - if you could flick them some bucks that would be a great way to contribute.

Dave I'll pitch in the RR kerfing -- it might not be Spanish Cedar.

Good deal. Since you're providing the BRW I guess we can let you slide on the spanish cedar. :-)
Thanks Ken!
