rim assembly on KMG Ditson kit complete

Finished the rim assembly for my KMG Ditson kit. A 12 fret Martin made for the Oliver Ditson co. Back is braced and top almost.

Thanks Dave,

I hope to have the box together next week. The monsoons are playing havoc with the humidity here.

Hi David L
Yes it is EIR and nicely striped too.
I also think you are right about the walnut and Cherry. I have some Black Walnut binding, so I think that will be the theme.

That EIR looks great!

Forgive my ignorance, what is the difference between a Ditson Martin and a regular Martin?

Ditson at one time was the major seller -- Martin was commissioned to make this model for them. The pattern used by KMG was sent to us from Preston Thompson (google him) (and Peter Rowan too) I am pretty sure RD knows him. Years ago Preston was the prominent vintage replicator --- in recent years KMG helped Preston re-tool his shop and he is again making great guitars -- this DO will be a model that is offered.

I agree Woody, very nicely striped, a beautiful example of EIR indeed.

I like EIR but it makes about the nastiest sawdust known to man or beast!
