Just started new LMI 1937 Hauser kit

I'm just diving into this kit. My first guitar build. I had the sides prebent. The thought of doing it myself seemed overwhelming.
The sides are bent, but are 4 1/2 inches wide. The plan calles for the sides to be 3 3/4. What are some good ways of triming sides which are already bent?

I need to look at the plans but starting at the tail end of the guitar and working with the flat side of the guitar down , I suggest you put it in a mold or something and mark out along the rim where the line should be. My tool of choice would be a block plane.
I am sure more will chime in. I use a mold to hold things in shape and secure. Good luck

I have done 2 LMI kits like this. I used a block plane in a mold like john suggested on one and used my bandsaw on the second. No problem either time.

Thanks for the help .. I made a line then put some blue tape on that line. I then used a block plane and trimmed down to that line. So far so good. Rosewood seems so delicate.

They will do the binding channels, but are not advanced enough yet for purfling. :-)

Thanks again for the help. The plane was the way to go. I have the sides cut to width and I have the end block glued in with tightbond. I am not sure
of the best way to cut the upperbout sides so that they conform to the spanish heel. The side will not fit into the heel at a 90 deg angle. So I was thinking
of using a t-bevel to measure this angle, and then using that to make a line on the sides. Im just not sure where to make that line as the neck would be in the
mold face down which makes it difficult. Maybe for this measurement it needs to come out of the mold. Any ideas ?

Yes the kit came with a dvd. Robbie doesnt go into great detail about it. I just know the sides have to fit all the way into the heel.
Which is a precise cut at an angle, so I just dont want to screw it up.

And that's "one" of the reasons that I decided not to do a classical for my first try at building a guitar, It may be OK for others, but for me it seemed like it would be somewhat more challenging. I would like to build a few more before I try a classical.
