What he said. Also, many times, the best way to get wiring information is to contact the pickup manufacturer....they will be able to give you the best idea hw to wire them.

and am just wondering if the wiring is that much different because the pickups are humbuckers as opposed to single coil?

There is a gazzilion ways of wiring pickups. It all depends on what sort of tone you're after, whether you want coil splitting on one or both of your humbuckers (I'm assuming H-H configuration), that sort of thing. If you wish you can even do out of phase coils in a humbucker (Peter Green thing).
