I felt like tooting my own horn, so I started this thread just to say that my cousin, the proud owner of the koa OM I recently finished, took the guitar to do some recording recently and the studio guys and his bandmates all commented on how great it sounded. The studio employees, whom I assume have heard a guitar or two, said it was the nicest looking and sounding koa guitar they had heard. The unfortunate thing about this recording session is that my cousin and his friends happen to be the children of wealthy parents. They fancy themselves as a real band, so they "write" some songs and record cover songs as well. They all own expensive instruments and they can play well, but this recording will never see the light of day and I will never be able to post it here because they will not let me. Damn spoiled rich kids. Maybe one day I will convince him to let me post a clip or two. They should call their band "The Silver Spoons" but they are as yet, unnamed.

Look at it this way, Tony. You got paid to do your hobby, something you take a lot of pride in. Take your slice of the silver spoon and enjoy... we can all hope to be so lucky.
...and who knows whose hands the next guitar lands in!

Tony it is great that your guitar is being used and liked, and we got to hear you sing and play the guitar before you delivered it.

Would my singing be a good thing? I don't think so. Thanks guys!

I say "phooey" on your cousin for not tossing us at least a taste. Does he not know how important we are?

That's great Tony! I know I was surprised how good that guitar sounded in the recordings.......and I imagine it's easy to make a Koa/Mahogany topped guitar that sounds very tight and stiff with little bass.
I'm going to the OLF gathering in St. Louis on Sat. (leaving tomorrow) My wife's uncle lives by himself there and we are going to spend the weekend with him. I'm looking forward to having other folks play my guitar and hopefully get to play some of theirs. I've played very few handmade guitars so it will be nice see what the others sound like.

Tony,
CAin't you buy the record and then play it for us?
Come on!
SEriously, congratulations, that is pretty cool to have your guitar being played professionally. I can not toot my horn on that one.

Oh...I wouldn't call what they do "professional" but I am happy the guitar is grunge played!
