I'm Insane

I'm insane. I've known that for a long time, and have no problems with that.
That being said, here's what I'm considering...
While I fully appreciate the classic, simple beauty of the rosewood/white binding/herringbone design (see pic Bill Cory's "kit Guitars" book cover - lower left), I find it very hard to stop there. My idea is this. 45 style top - b/w/b-shell-b/w/b. Tortoise binding. b/w/b-Purflex (one or another of Petros' designs)-b/w/b sides and back. Petros celt 1 back strip. Tortoise end wedge with purflex. Petros Celt 1 rosette to tie the sides/back and top together. Tortoise binding on neck and headstock. shell inlay on headstock.
Way too over the top? A horrid design idea? Too much work to even consider? I've always loved look of the the D-45. Buying one is simply never going to happen (short of a lottery win), plus I've always wanted to build one in that style. I enjoy the nitpicking detail work, and I have plenty of spare time. But at the same time, in wandering and looking, I came across the Petros stuff, and really like it. The biggest problem is that I may only get to do one. We have five guitars in the house, and even though two of them are my wifes, her opinion is that I really don't need another one. So I kind of want to mix and match a little to put the two themes together. Opinions please?
