It worked so well on the other thread, I thought I would give it a try.

Building a 00 body with Cuban Mahogany back/sides (sorta ribbon figured a little) for my daughter. The Cuban has a little bit of golden hue in places and is dark (almost black) in places but overall has a strong orange hue. Lutz spruce silky top (very white). Haven't decided for sure on the neck but leaning toward mahogany.

What binding would you recommend? Both cream and black look good with the orange hue so curly maple or ebony would work. Any other ideas?

Here is a pic of the back/side:

Do you have a model in mind that you are duplicating? Is the overall feel going to be classic* ( Ivoroid,/herringbone or other marquetry ) or modern* (wood purf/wood bound). what tuners/bridge/rosette do you have in mind? It all works together to support the overall asthetic...

*lets not get into what makes classic or modern here, i'm just makin a point.

cuban is a nice wood. binding options are many for this . I like tortise as the red works nice with the hog. wood binding are open. Rosewood is good but you have many options .

Not trying to duplicate any particular model. Instead of BW lines against the purfling, endgraft, rosette, etc., I'm thinking of using a dark green fiber accent for GW lines. Probably wood purfling and undecided on the rosette.

That does look good Darryl, kind of a reddish brown against the hog.
I like it.
