I’m trying to find a source for B grade/relatively inexpensive rosewood or some other appropriate wood I can use for the inside layer of laminated guitar sides I want to make. Ideally looking for something that can be sanded down to about 2mm. Can live with something thinner and possibly do multiple layers. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions. Very helpful. Now on to deciding how to do the lamination glue up. Probably just use the mold sides bolted together and a flexible caul an a lot of clamps. Too bad the vacuum pump method is so expensive. Would love to try that out.

That's how I did it. bolted the spreaders together too and used a piece of formica to spread the clamping force evenly.

The two sources of side laminate that I am aware of are:
JS bogdanovich and Maderas Barber. The latter ships from Europe which is expensive for me (based in the US).

If you want to try the vacuum method, but don’t want to buy an electric vacuum pump, you can get a hand pump from roarockit. Robbie O’Brien has a video demonstrating how it works.
