Has anyone ever build an acustic with multiple tonewoods? For example two or three similar sounding tonewoods for back? What was the result?
Thx

Well it doesn't seem like anyone has given an opinion on your question. I've never mixed back/side woods except while doing laminated sides. But I'll bet it would sound like a guitar!

Well there have been lots of three-piece backs produced commercially, some of them with contrasting tonewoods. I don't know how you would assess whether the combination improved the guitar or made it worse. Bruce W.

I've seen pictures of 2 piece backs with different woods on each side. Of course, we have seen 3 piece backs with a different species in the middle. Back and sides different. Bracing that matches top or not. It's all fair game but I doubt you could really quantify the differences even if you built two at the same time, one with all single species and another with many.
