Any bounce at all will kill the strike in this particular operation. some of the best results I ever had before I started using the fret press were the same as described above....use a short 2x4 and hammer against the garage floor. All mass and momentum then travels directly from the hammer head to the fret.

I now use the fret press in my drill press. Still takes a surprisingly hard pull, actually can see deflection in my drill press table, but once it goes in, it is smooth, straight, and has no dents from my inexperience in fret hammering. Effort-wise, it is really no easier than hammering, may actually take more strength, but it does eliminate the dents and damage from those who haven't become experts at hammering them in. It's one of those skills I just never seemed to get right for whatever reason.

So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.

I also use the fret press in my drill press, but I do tap each end of the fret wire to get it started in the slot first to prevent roll over.

I see that another one of my intelligently crafted posts went to la la land again this morning. I think I was clicking "submit" at the same time Tony was this morning.
Sean, can you fix this problem?????

I will read what you all wrote since then and see if I need to re-write it.

Frets are in. Filed flush with the fingerboard and put a 30 deg bevel on the edges. So should I start to pour fill now, or
would you reccommed to finish the frets first .. IE making them all flat and then crowning, or doesnt it matter

I don't final fret dress until the neck is on the guitar. At this point get the body done . Do you have a 1 or 2 way truss rod?

Its completed. At least the construction is. This weekend I started to fill the pores using Zpoxy. Zpoxy is harder to spread out
then I anticipated, but its seems like it sands real nice. Then I will spray it with some stewmac rattlecan sealer and then put of maybe 6 coats of
stewmac lacquer. I also got the tuning machines it which are Sloane Classical Guitar Machines with Stippled Bronze Baseplates.
I update to the web site with more pics

I sprayed and then sanded the stewmac sealer. Ready for some lacquer. I just need to humidity to to come back down. Humidity
is at 79% and I think it would blush if it was sprayed now.

You guitar is looking great! You are at the hard part seeing it nearly done but having to wait to string it up and hear it.
