Gorgeous, Dave, can't wait to hear how she turns out! I too love the extension treatment and soundhole! As you know, I have moved mine off the soundboard completely, but still love your look. Far better craftsmanship than I have been showing lately, this should be stunning!

Dave,
Interesting bracing concept is this an original idea?

Ken - it's your approach that moved me to think about taking a few chances. Thank you!

Nice design, Dave. Like others, I can hardly wait to hear the results. But wait, I have questions! I'm with Woody; is that bracing of your own design? I would love to hear your thoughts on it, compared to conventional bracing--especially regarding how it sounds.

Dave noted its a KMG kit but a similar bracing style is used on this instrument: http://www.liutaiomottola.com/instruments/Ipomoea.htm

Colestine - first, are you in southern Oregon? - Colestine is a well known name around these parts.
I've seen similar but not exact same bracing on 'net pictures as I surf around. This guy: http://www.liutaiomottola.com/instruments/Ipomoea.htm has some interesting ideas; I used his bracing as a starting point, but found for a more balanced tapping pattern I needed to add an upper bout brace, plus I do not screw down my fb extension so had to change that around a bit. He has free downloadable plans if you are interested. I really like the proportions of his instrument and will probably copy it at some time.
Which brings me to a question maybe someone can answer: would not the Florentine-style cutaway be an easier cutaway than the venetian or 'soft' cutaway? With the Florentine there would not be that sever bend.

Yes, Dave, I am in the Colestin valley. On the day that I chose my forum name I misspelled Colestin so's folks would say it right... but I wish I'd gone with Colestinguitar. I saw where you mentioned Mt. Ashland in one of your posts and have secretly hoped to visit your shop someday.
