But Ken, it's LINDA MANZER!!!!!! If clothes pins worked, LINDA MANZER would use them!!!! Never mind the laws of physics or other pesky so-called facts.

I make joke. I use cheap clothes pins and wrap 'em with rubber bands and works just fine. It's not rocket surgery...

I have built both my guitars with those clips, because I happened to have them on hand. They worked fine. Sometimes theory can get in the way of practicality.

Maybe "compromise" to come up with the best or better practice! Math and science tend to lead the way.

Note clothes pins and narrow spring clamps:

I never let facts get in the way of my arguments. Ditto for the laws of physics. Gravity? dont get me started.

Oh -- and wide paper clips and clamps that are too strong will leave dents in reverse rounded kerfing.

Reminds me of a line from Ani Difranco: "It's like trying to fight gravity...on a planet that insists". Love that line, don't know why.

So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.

I was at OSH today, they had packs of 40 wood old fashioned clothes pins for $1.00. For $4.00 you will have all the clips you need to clamp kerfing on a top or back rim.
Okay Mud, I know you don't have OSH there, but if you want, one of us can purchase some clothes pins for you and mail them to you in a USPS flat rate box for about $25.00. Then save the rubber bands off your news papers for about 4 months, and you are done.

Sorry folks, but I don't know who Linda Manzer is.(Enlightenment is welcome)

But I think that with proper pre-bending and patience (something I'm not known for!) one can get away with the clothes pins.
Even Martin uses them without rubber band reinforcement, unless it's around a cutaway or a tight waist, at least from what I've seen.

Hooray for good, old fashioned clothespins!!!

I very much appreciate the offer Kevin and with Tony previously offering rubber bands I would indeed be all set. But before I even consider shipping clothespins halfway around the world I'm going to check out the plastic ones I can find around here. With some heavy rubberbanding they just may work out.
Either way, I'll be sure to let you guys know.

BTW Tony, I'm seriously considering those #64, nothing of the sort here... :(
